Andalucia is the most southern region in Spain and covers an area of about 87,000 km2 and has a population of about 8.4 million people. The regional capital is Seville and consists of the provinces Almería, Cádiz, Córdoba, Huelva, Jaén, Málaga and Granada.
Beside the many nice beaches, the regions also consists of magnificent inland landscapes, of which Sierrra Nevada is the most famous. Here you will also find a top modern ski resort.
The Andalucian climate is unlike anywhere else in Europe with an average of 300 sunshine days a year.
Marocco
Why not try a day trip to Marocco? or combine with an overnight stay or two. Try out the Maroccan kcuisine and pay a visit to the famous shopping mekka Medina where you can buy all sorts of products.
Alhambra
Alhambra meaning "The red Castle" in Arabic is found in the city of Granada and is the biggest tourist atrraction in Spain. An impressive work of art build in Maurian style and has been on UNESCO´s World Heritage List since 1984. Tickets should be booked up front to make sure you will get access to the castle.
Gibraltar
Only 25 minutes down the coast you will find the famous rock of Gibraltar.
You parc the car on the Spanish side in the town called La Linea, and after going through passport control you walk over the airport runway into the centre of Gibraltar. Grab a drink or a bite to eat at the cozy Grand Casemates Square or carry on up the street where you will find a lot of English shops and pubs, just like any other high street in England.
We highly recommend that you take a ride to the top of the rock, either by cable car or transit van. Up there you can enjoy the fantastic views all tyhe way across to Africa. Just be aware of the apes when you go up there.
You can buy a combi ride on the high street, that will also give you access to the beautifull caves and botanic gardens.
Be aware that these rides are fairly expensive in high season.
Puerto Banus
A 25 minutes drive up the coast takes you to the exclusive port of Puerto Banus, which is a playground for the rich and famous. Here you will see lots of expensive cars, huge yachts, exclusive shops as well as plenty of bars, restaurants and night clubs.
Apart from the exclusive shops, the price level in most bars and restaurants is fairly normal.
Definately worth a visit, especially during the summer months.
Estepona
About 15 minutes drive from Manilva you will find the slightly bigger town of Estepona. In one end of the town you will find the marina with lots of cafés and restaurants and local markets on certain days. In the old town of Estepona you will find lots of shops and narrow streets full of restaurants. If you need to go supermarket shopping you can go to huge hyper market of Carrefour on the outskirt of Estepona.
Here an you find something for everybody. One end of the town you will find the lovely marina with lots of nice cafes, restaurants and bars.
In the centre of Estepona you will find lots of local shops down the small shopping streets and squares.
If you want to go to a hypermarket go to Carrefour.
Ronda
This historical town that sits 700 m up above Malaga is definataly worth a visit. Enjoy the beautiful ride in land, which takes about and hour and a half. You park on the edge of town, walk down the shopping street towards the famous bridge Puente Nuevo. Maybe also take a trip by the bull ring or relax in one of the many squares.
